Terms of Service

The agreement, in plain language.

The rules for using MyVaultedLife, written to be read, not skipped.

Last updated: June 2026

These terms govern your use of MyVaultedLife. By creating an account, you agree to them. Please read them; they're written plainly.

What MyVaultedLife is

MyVaultedLife is a personal information organizer. It helps you record and share important information (medical, financial, legal, and personal) with people you trust.

MyVaultedLife is not a legal service, a financial service, or a medical service. Nothing you store in your vault is a legally binding document. Nothing in the service constitutes legal, financial, or medical advice. You are responsible for ensuring that your information is accurate and up to date, and for taking appropriate professional advice on legal, financial, and medical matters.

Who can use MyVaultedLife, and where

MyVaultedLife is currently offered only in the United States and is intended for use by residents of the United States. The service is designed, maintained, and hosted in the U.S., and our pricing, support, and legal terms assume a U.S. user. We do not offer the service in other countries at this time, and we may decline or close accounts that fall outside this scope.

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. By signing up, you confirm that you are 18 or older and legally able to agree to these terms. MyVaultedLife is not intended for children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

Your responsibilities

You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you store. We have no way to verify it, and we don't try to. If your family relies on information you've stored and it turns out to be wrong or out of date, that's on you, not us.

You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure. We use multi-factor authentication (TOTP) to help, but if someone gains access to your account using your credentials, we cannot be held responsible for what they see.

You may only use MyVaultedLife for personal use. You may not use automated tools to scrape or bulk-extract data. You may not share your login credentials with anyone; use the deputy feature to give others appropriate access.

Deputies, death, and the anti-activity checker

MyVaultedLife lets you appoint deputies—people you trust to see specific sections of your vault—and to set up an anti-activity checker that releases access or delivers your messages if you stop responding to our check-ins. These are powerful features, and it's important you understand how they work.

You decide who your deputies are and exactly what they can see. We act on the instructions you give us. We do not verify the identity, intentions, or relationship of anyone you name as a deputy, and we are not responsible for what a deputy does with the access you grant them. Choose carefully, and review your deputies regularly.

The anti-activity checker works by sending you periodic check-ins. If you do not respond within the window you've configured, we will treat that as a trigger and act on the instructions you've set—granting deputy access and/or delivering your messages. It is your responsibility to keep your contact details current and to respond to check-ins. The checker cannot tell the difference between a genuine emergency and a missed email, a full inbox, or a changed address. We are not liable for the checker firing when you did not intend it to, or failing to fire, for any reason.

Because these features may release sensitive information after your death or incapacity, MyVaultedLife is not a substitute for a will, a power of attorney, or any other legal instrument. Nothing released through a deputy or the anti-activity checker is legally binding. Talk to an attorney about your estate and end-of-life planning.

Your encryption keys

Your vault is protected by end-to-end encryption. In plain terms, your information is encrypted with a key that only you control—through your passphrase and the passkeys or recovery options you set up. This is a deliberate design choice: it means no one at MyVaultedLife can read your vault.

It also means that if you lose your key and every recovery method you set up, we cannot recover your data. There is no master key and no back door. We are not exaggerating for effect—the data is mathematically unrecoverable without your key, and lost data cannot be restored by us, by you, or by anyone else. Please set up your recovery options, keep them safe, and treat your passphrase like the most important password you own.

What we provide

We provide the service “as is.” We take reasonable steps to keep it available, secure, and accurate, but we make no guarantees about uptime, accuracy, or fitness for any particular purpose.

We are not liable for any decisions made based on information stored in your vault, any losses resulting from service unavailability, or any consequences of sharing access with deputies.

To the fullest extent allowed by law, our total liability to you for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose—or, if you're on the free plan, one hundred U.S. dollars ($100). We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, such as lost profits or lost data. Some states don't allow these limits, so parts of this may not apply to you.

You agree to cover us for any claims, losses, or costs (including reasonable legal fees) that arise from your misuse of the service, your violation of these terms, or your infringement of someone else's rights.

We will take reasonable steps to notify you of significant service changes or outages. We will not delete your data without notice, except in cases of account termination for violations of these terms.

Payments and subscriptions

Paid plans (Personal, Family) are billed either monthly or annually, depending on the billing period you choose at checkout. Whichever you choose, the plan renews automatically at the same price and cadence until canceled. You can cancel at any time through the billing portal in your account settings; your plan remains active until the end of the current billing period.

Gift plans are purchased as a one-time payment. They grant 12 months of Personal plan access from the date of redemption.

We do not offer refunds for unused subscription periods. If you believe you've been charged in error, contact us within 30 days and we'll investigate.

Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store payment card details.

Your content and our software

The information you put in your vault is yours. You keep all rights to it. You grant us only the limited permission we need to run the service for you—to store, encrypt, back up, and deliver your content according to your instructions (including to your deputies). We don't claim ownership of it, we don't sell it, and we don't use it to train anything.

Everything else—the MyVaultedLife software, design, branding, and name—belongs to us. These terms don't give you any right to copy, resell, or build a competing service from it.

Account termination

You can delete your account at any time from your settings. We will purge your data within 30 days.

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms, use the service for fraudulent purposes, or engage in behavior that harms other users or the service. We will give reasonable notice before terminating an account, except in cases of serious or immediate harm.

Governing law

MyVaultedLife is operated by MyVaultedLife LLC, a limited liability company organized in the State of Rhode Island, United States. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Rhode Island and applicable U.S. federal law. Any disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Rhode Island.

The fine print

These terms, along with our privacy policy, are the entire agreement between you and us about the service, and they replace anything said before.

If any part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still stands. If we don't enforce a right right away, we haven't given it up.

You can't transfer your account or these terms to someone else without our permission. We may transfer them—for example, if the company is sold—but your rights won't be reduced if we do.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If we make significant changes, we'll notify you by email. Your continued use of the service after the effective date of changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
